The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has revaled why some governors are yet to appear before the party’s committee in charge of screening ahead of the elections.

Speaking with journalists after the APC screening exercise at the Plateau Governors Lodge in Abuja on Saturday, Yilwatda said the governors were excused due to official engagements in their respective states.

Specifically, the chairman mentioned the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, the Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and the Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru.

According to him, the party recognises the responsibilities attached to their offices as chief executives of their states.

“Any governor who has issues to attend to, we understand,” Yilwatda said.

“The Governor of Kwara said he has issues to attend to, so we excused him. The Governor of Rivers State also has issues to attend to, and we excused him.

“We know they are chief executives, they are commanders in their states.

“Anytime you are free, call the screening committee. We will give you a room. You can come at your own will and convenience, and we will screen you,” he said.

Reports indicated that the APC is expected to screen Fubara on Sunday at the Plateau State Government Lodge in Abuja.
