ISWAP terrorists reportedly suffered heavy casualties after troops of Operation HADIN KAI successfully repelled a coordinated attack on the Headquarters 27 Brigade, Buni Gari, and a nearby checkpoint in Yobe State.
According to military sources, the attack was launched around 2:00 a.m. on May 8 from multiple directions, but troops responded with superior firepower, forcing the insurgents to retreat in disarray.
Several terrorists were reportedly neutralised during the encounter, while others escaped with gunshot wounds. Follow-up operations also led to the recovery of bodies and weapons along the terrorists’ withdrawal routes.
The development has been hailed as a significant success in ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the North East.
